You have probably heard the term “firstfruits” in relation to generosity. This concept is rooted in the culture of the Old Testament when most people worked as farmers. They poured all their time and effort into raising crops, and when harvest time came, they literally reaped what they sowed.
Leviticus 23:10 says, “When you come into the land which I give you and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest.”
The Israelites were instructed to bring the first of their harvest as an offering to God. This act of obedience required them to trust the Lord for His continued provision. After all, there was no guarantee of a repeated harvest. Devastating storms, frost or insects were all real threats that loomed over their fields.
The firstfruits offering was a symbol of their belief that God would supply for their needs. In return, the Lord promised to bless all that came afterward.
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10 NIV)

We never want finances to get in the way of people experiencing victory, healing and breakthrough. The Firstfruits Scholarship has been developed to assist families and young people who would like to participate in our Train to Reign and Heroes programs. Throughout the month of May, we are seeking donations toward this scholarship. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support believers who wish to be strengthened on their journey with Jesus.
