The Inn of Last Resort, nestled in the mountains of Franklin, North Carolina, is the perfect place to get away with your spouse and press into the Lord together. We believe in the importance and power of a cultivated Christian marriage and are here to support couples as they pursue each other and the Lord.
The Purpose of Marriage
The first thing God did after creating all things was establish marriage. This beautiful, God-ordained relationship is at the root of our very existence and reminds us of our true and most beloved Bridegroom: the Lord Himself. This is not something to take lightly!
Just as the first garden was given to Adam and Eve to steward, so marriage is a gift that requires nurturing and cultivation.
Seeds of hope and love take root and blossom into the beauty that comes from a shared life with a trusted spouse. But, much like a garden, marriages don’t flourish overnight, and they don’t grow unless they are cultivated. Even healthy marriages need to be tended to in order to continue producing fruit. Without intentional, dedicated investment, both gardens and marriages risk withering away.
Alarming Marriage & Family Research
According to a report from Pew Research Center, Protestants have the highest rate of divorce among all religious groups with a divorce rate of 51%. Even more alarming is the effect of broken marriages on children. Research cited by Psychology Today shows that children of divorced parents are twice as likely to experience divorce themselves (Amato & Deboer, 2001, p. 1038). Without proper nurturing, not only do marriages suffer, but future generations are affected as well.
It is clear that there is an urgent need for investment in Christian marriages. Without intentional care, even the strongest relationships can falter under the pressures of life. We have a room at The Inn for you to do just that.
